picture post: perfume collection & storage.

The perfume box.

Everything fits nicely!

I had wanted an alternate and more elegant solution to perfume storage than a plastic ammo case or standard plastic box, so I began to look at vintage jewelry boxes. I bought mine from CheekyVintage on etsy. Shipping cost about as much as the box for me, but in the end I'm so happy with it that it was very much worth the cost. If you're considering at looking for one as well I'd reccomend buying from an actual "vintage" shop, either online or in person, because they're more likely to have quality pieces that they've cleaned and cared for rather than just a second-hand shop or someone selling grandma's old wares on eBay with no idea of the true condition or value. It also helps to search a brand name, like "Mele vintage box", because then you'll get boxes from that brand and ones similar to it in style. Also huge photos are good, I'd click each one and zoom i best I could to look at any stains or dirt.

In the end this one arrived very clean with no stains or smell. It's perfect, and the perfect size, just enough to contain a midsize collection but big enough that I know if I fill it, it's time to slow down a little.

The bottom can fit exactly ten Arcana fullsize perfumes.

Darling Clandestine Harpy, Love & Sharks, bitsy solid of Don'tGoPleaseStay,
itsy bitsy vial of Spurn, Grace.

Bitsy vial of  Darling Clandestine Small Saga and fullsize Squander.

Arcana samples and the ribbon from DC Grace.

Smelly Yeti Queen of the Damned and an extra dropper!

All the Arcana!

Arcana Stretched on your Grave, Dive, Namaka,
Pumpkins Crave Terror, Straightjacket and Goofy Foot.

Pumpkins Crave Terror, Straightjacket, Goofy Foot, Gersemi, Krampusnacht.

Krampusnacht, Sitting Pretty, Holy Terror.

I hope you enjoyed having a look!

  3. I am teetering right on the brink of falling headfirst down the indie perfume rabbit hole. Perhaps my insistence on only buying samples will save me?

  5. Right now I'm sticking to brands that have things that aren't perfume, and adding perfume samples on to my orders. I've got some from sixteen92 and Ten Three Labs coming to me, plus I think Haus of Gloi will throw a perfume sample in with my lip balm order, so I'll try one of theirs as well. I'm considering Firebird and Black Violet, and am also probably gonna pick up some Bloodrop and Smelly Yeti in a destash.

  6. Ahh good choice, Smelly Yeti's Queen of the Damned is one of my favorite floral/green scents! Firebird I think is nice too because their scents are rather simple and easy to decipher. <3

  7. I'm a huge Buffy fan too, so that's a plus for Smelly Yeti as well. And yeah, everyone says Firebird is great for beginners.

  8. Also if you're getting a HoG perfume sample, a lot of theirs seem to be very hit or miss I've seen. (I still have yet to place a HoG order, gj self. I had the pleasure of smelling some from my fellow indie lovers though and found some of them good but others I thought I'd enjoy weirdly pungent.) I also got to smell some TenThree from some friends too, and I found all of them pretty nice and pleasant, so I hope you find them similar!

  10. Wow, I am shivering with jealousy at the sight of all those perfumes! I need to organize my perfumes (just have a few but they are jumbled about in a drawer) and this is such a great idea!

  11. Haha it's really terrible, before November I barely had anything, but Black Friday sales, man...I really like this idea because they're nicely displayed and pretty, but I can also put some of my nice jewelry in the top too if I like. The only downside was the foreign shipping killed my wallet haha.
